May 2011 - Revelation: Acts of God. In light of the recent most devastating tornado, which destroyed the Missouri town of Joplin, many may ask why God allows such disasters to occur and bring harm to His people. Others may see this occurrence as a specific “act of God” as if it was a punishment or warning. These people believe God is a judgmental being, whom doses out harsh penalties as needed to an evil world. My understanding is different and certainly more comforting to me personally. I am now understanding God differently than the ideas engrained into me throughout my life. I have opened myself to a constant flow of God’s Goodness and Love. As this Love flows into my soul and warms the very core of my being so flows a new level of wisdom. This wisdom tells me that God or what I and others call God is only Good, all Good; all Love here and at hand. It is up to each of us to choose whether or not we allow God’s Love to flow to and through us. Our free will is what makes us feel separate as well as deeply connected. It’s what we do with this free will that matters. We can choose our own selfish ways or God’s Good ways of Love. Our ego’s try and keep us tied to the physical world and tell us that we need to look out for number one and our ego’s number one is always self, our small self. So small that the only way it can begin to feel big is to collect stuff and then work hard to protect it’s stuff. Our larger and unlimited Self is God or maybe easier to understand as our God Connection, our Universal Connection to the One All Good. No one can really have both. The Bible tells us we can only worship one, one God, one good. When we choose our small self and say me, me, me, more, more, more and live in fear and worry, we are not putting our attention toward the good of God. Okay, so I believe in the Ultimate Creative Force, the Eternal Spirit which created each of us and as well created the universe and thus this universe runs perfectly according to the laws of nature established in the beginning. These laws are unchangeable but we and our world, our bodies and our earth are. Magnificently powerful forces of nature have been changing the face of our planet continually since the beginning. So the great storm was a natural occurrence. It just was. Man cannot change the weather. Man can be aware and take measures to protect himself from rain, wind, snow and sun but that is all. It is life. Life is change. Change is what happens. This tornado was a great change. A most powerful and upsetting change. It changed lives forever. It changed the face of the earth. It took away what one survivor described as “everything she knew as real.” It took away and tossed around the material. What was left was spirit. When people crawled out from the rubble and they saw the shamble made of their physical reality, their spirits awoke and gave thanks for their lives. Their good came out and more good came forth. Good is God. So yes, I do believe an “Act of God” has changed Joplin. But I’m not referring to the great storm. I am instead referring to the so very many acts of God, acts of selfless good being performed as I write. This is why we are here, to help each other, to lend a hand and an ear, to be good to each other and to be God for each other and to see God in each other. Many ask why does it take a tragedy to bring out people’s good? My reply: the lives we build, the walls we build of separation sometimes have to crumble before us so we can see the light, the light in each other’s eyes and in our own. God bless, good blesses. You gotta feel good about it, whatever it is. The only way to bring good your way is to attract it with good. So you have to feel good, to feel good. You have to think good. Thinking good is a choice. A choice each always has. We each have free will to choose our thoughts and as our thoughts create our life we each have free will to choose and create the life we want. Feel the Love, the Love I have for you. It is yours already. Don’t block the flow. Go with the flow. Pass it on. No one can hoard Love. Take time out to spend time in. Within yourself lies the wisdom for your life as you need it, it is there. Quiet yourself. Excerpted from the book Listen Hear, A Divine Love Story by Debra Clemente |
